1. Can you please tell our readers your real name as well as your stage name?
My birth name is Stefano La Civita, and my stage name is Avius!
2.Where are you from and Where are you based?
I am from Windsor, Ontario, Canada. I was born and raised here and have been making music here my whole life. Windsor is a border city to Detroit, and I’d like to say it has a pretty strong music scene as a result of that. Detroit is so rich in music history, and has spawned some of the greatest acts the industry has ever seen, so I’m pretty proud to be partly involved in that scene, even if its by association. When the border re-opens (closed currently because of COVID-19) I plan on crossing often and collaborating with artists there.
3.At What age did you start making music?
I started writing and producing music around age 15/16, but have been doing it professionally for a living for about a year and a half now. I’m 24 years old so that makes it about 8 years of music.
4. What genre would you consider yourself?
This is always a hard question for me to answer because I bounce around to different genres a lot. I’d like to consider myself a genre-bender, and am a bit of a chameleon in that regard. To name a bunch, I frequent in synth-wave/synth-pop, electronic, hip-hop, and punk.
5. Tell us about your latest track or Video ( what is it all about)–Please explain the concept or message.
My latest track is called STRENGTH. It is the opening track of my project VOICES, and it marks an important moment in my musical journey. The process of making it was very cathartic for me for many reasons, as the track revolves around trauma that I experienced as an early teen. Making it and sharing it to the world and being open to what it is about provided strong psychological relief through being able openly express many emotions that I hold. I’ve always found it easier to express myself through music than through words, so it only felt natural to write and create about a topic this important. The track attempts to paint a picture of my chaotic mental state after the death of my mother, and the loss off innocence that came with it.
6. If you were given a chance, which Artist would you love to perform with?
Without a doubt Kanye West. He’s been such an integral part of my musical journey. I’ve always admired his fearlessness as a human being an artist, and he shoots for a level of perfectionism that I’ve modeled my creative process around. If I had to choose a second answer, it would probably be Travis Scott or Daft Punk. I say Travis mainly because the energy would be unreal, and he always puts on an incredible live show. Would love to crowd surf with him, that would be live as hell. Daft Punk because they’re certified legends.
