We invite you to discover his music right now and to discover our conversation with him below:
1. Can you please tell our readers your real name as well as your stage name?
My name is Dillon Sands, and I go by Shyfox for my music. Originally I was going by Collisions but due to music stores being flooded with that specific name and my music constantly being released under the wrong artists, I had to change it last year.
2.Where are you from and Where are you based?
I’m from Windsor, Canada, and I am currently living here.
3.At What age did you start making music?
I started making music with my friends at the age of 12, just before starting high school. I was heavily influenced by Blink-182 and Good Charlotte and dreamt of being the next big rock star in my city.
4.What genre would you consider yourself?
My genre is a little hard to put words to. I’m considered a Soundcloud rapper, or emo rapper. But I’ve never felt, primarily, a part of that genre itself. I make music depending on what I’m vibing with at the moment. If I feel like doing an energetic pop-punk style song or getting really down with my feelings in a slow piano song, that’s what I’m going to do.
5. Tell us about your latest track or Video ( what is it all about)–Please explain the concept or message.
My latest song I’ve released is called I Don’t Care, it’s featuring Lil Sabb and Lil Ringey
I actually recorded this in my bedroom when I first started making music for this project and was still learning how to mix my own music without having to go to a studio.
The story behind my hook on the song, I was going through a bad break-up at the time and all my days were kinda just blending into each other, I’d wake up and the person I was with wasn’t there and I was going through a frenzy of emotions all while critically getting into my own head.
So I sat on the song for almost 8 months before sending it to Lil Sabb for a feature, and then I got the idea to add Lil Ringey to the song.
And it just came out as this energetic catchy song that has a very sad undertone to it.
Which is what I want people to feel overall, I want them to enjoy listening to the song but understanding that even something happy can be sad at the same time.
6.If you were given a chance, which Artist would you love to perform with?
I would love to perform with so many artists. The first ones that come to mind are the friends I’ve made while making music, Lil Ringey, Lil Sabb, Trt612.
But the bigger artists would definitely be Lil Lotus, Guccihighwaters, Shinigami and Nothing, Nowhere.
