Exclusive Interview With FGL Bishop

Tell us about your new song? And what’s the story behind it?

No lights) Performing this song live getting to see live reactions was surreal. Recording last weekend around 12 o’clock was a little difficult knowing I had to be up at work at 9 o’clock that morning but still none the less a vibe was created. The back story behind the record is actually kinda crazy I was trying to get my mind off some things during the snow storm back in February. Getting thru a break up and dealing with being trapped in the house on my 21st birthday with no water thanking God the lights were still on with cousins and grandmothers an aunt mother and little brother was an interesting 2 days to say the least.

What makes your music unique? And how would you describe it?

Describing my music has always been difficult because I really believe in my sound which I’m Still finding daily. I’m not bitting anybody’s style but I take inspiration from all types of genres and sub genres in rap. I enjoy making songs off the mood that thee beat gives me with harmonizing melodies I would say is a main part of my craft. My pen is elite I feel like and I don’t always have to be overly lyrical I can do my best to fit the vibe as much as I can but still make a great song. I would say I approach lyrics with a certain seriousness like a 2pac  because I feel like pac always new his pocket and used the perfect words to match his style. Or even a Pierre Bourne mixed with a new school vibe type of sound or voice. High level lyricism without it being so serious all the time but can when need be. You either have to Digest and grow with me or I’ll puts you in a certain mood Ranging through the emotional spectrum as far as I can stretch it. I hope that makes sense.

Which is the best moment in your musical career that you’re most proud of?

My uncle asked my this question a few nights ago and I really didn’t have an answer for him but what I told him was. It’s always the next moment for me like Performing no lights live with a Dj and just a beat from YouTube. Open mic nights slash karaoke nights have changed with the current times and looking back at people like Amy Whinehouse  or a jimmy Hendrix God rest there souls I appreciate the journey and the time Im on

How do you balance your music with other obligations – family, friends or work?

Balance is something I’m still searching for while at the same time trying to survive out here especially with the dream I have I didn’t make it easy on myself. But greatness isn’t always presented to you in your outside reality but believe and working towards that dream that journey is what makes it all worth it to me at least.

What advice would you give to aspiring musicians?

I would say believe in you first don’t go for others opinions and change your sound and approach because they said so make sure it makes sense to you. Manifesting reality is something I’m big on and I would say whatever you want to happen in your life fame, wealth, happiness but that sh*t in a record and watch what happens. And lastly no one said to be a role model but be cautious of what message you’re trying to send out but at the same time have your fun if your gonna make a twerk or a club record or even a gangster record challenge yourself to make a totally opposite message with positive substance and people like PAC and lil baby are a perfect example.

If you had one message to give to your fans, what would it be?

Well I don’t really know who my fans are yet but I would say to the people I l’ve meet along the journey and to the people who have listened they genuinely seem  to believe in me. And what sets me apart from your other favorite artist right now is that I’m no one trick pony. I  possess many swords like Roronoa Zoro. Shout out to Denzel Curry for being one of those unicorns in the game and trying different sh*t much respect.

What’s next for you? Any upcoming projects?

What’s next for me? Greatness and talking from the current reality I’m in now of course not being famous or well known and appreciated for my artistry would bother me but that’s  just jet fuel. As far as any projects coming up I’m going to drop some singles from the project (???). I might even drop a few remixes just to show you my different  capabilities and range with visuals of course. But other then that I’m sure I have more open mic nights ahead of me. I have music up on all platforms from SoundCloud to Spotify more music coming soon!
