We got a chance to do a one on one interview with him and here’s what he had to say:
1.Can you please tell our readers your real name as well as your stage name?
I was born Ralph Bourne. All my friends call me Fokie. My Stage name is Fokie Dope
2.Where are you from and Where are you based?
I’m based out of Charlotte NC, shout out to the city I love it there and I really have embraced the culture. But my home where I was born and raised is Detroit MI, the most poetic city in the world.
3.At What age did you start making music?
I started making music at 17. Me and my brothers that I grew up with started a group called off da block…I never really thought it could be a career but I just kept at it because of the passion and the love that I had for it
4.What genre would you consider yourself?
I’m an Hip-Hop artist I guess you would say. But most artists don’t really like to box themselves in. I more so just consider myself a song writer…whether it be for me or someone else.
5.Tell us about your latest track or Video ( what is it all about)–Please explain the concept or message.
The leading single off of my project is called Wolves. It’s deals with the mindset you develop growing up in an aggressive environment. And the effects it has on your actions.
6.If you were given a chance, which Artist would you love to perform with?
Honestly that’s a really difficult question for me to answer…I’m such a fan of so many different artists music that I don’t think I’d really be able to pick just one. I make music by being inspired by others compositions. I don’t copy their sound or anything like that. It more so fuels my competitive side and my artist side…I feel like music is like a tree. We water it with our individual music so the genre as a whole continues to grow…but I guess if you put a gun to my head it would be Jay-Z or Nas.
