1. Tell us about your new project “The Kollege Dropout”. What’s the story behind it?
The Kollege Dropout is just like a narration of my life over some fye ass beats. In my own creative way I’m just expressing my everyday life as an actual college dropout trying to not just survive but shine a light in this world.
2. What makes your music unique? And how would you describe it?
My music is just 100% me I would say. I freestyle pretty much all my recordings so it’s hard to think about trying to sound this certain way while also thinking of lyrics so I just do me. Whatever feels natural I just go with it and as long as I fuck with it Then I’m happy cuz I listen to myself a lot. I hope my originality is felt by people when they are listening to the album.
3. Which is the best moment in your musical career that you’re most proud of?
I’d say just my family and my friends rocking with and vibin to my music cuz it wasn’t always like that. Feels like a small accomplishment in the overall scheme of where my plan is headed but I think that was a big one so far.
4. How do you balance your music with other obligations – family, friends or work?
Man that’s tough. It wasn’t until recently that I learned to intertwine everything that’s important to me and completely cut out everything that wasn’t. So like music family friends and work are all combined to me at this point. And I don’t work on music 24/7 so there is time for other things in the day. I pick my daughter up from school and spend time with her every day. I still find time to kick it with my friends when it’s necessary and still if not everyday, most days I’m spending a few hours in the studio. I also spend a lot of time alone thinking and planning and I feel that’s when I’m most creative so it’s been very clutch that I have my own studio and record myself. I just go sit down and talk to the mic about whats been going on that day or that week or whatever.
5. What advice would you give to aspiring musicians?
Don’t listen to what everybody is telling you. Do you. Im a first hand witness of seeing one person absolutely love a song and the next person telling me it’s trash. So u kind of start to get a skewed judgment on your own music but fuck that. If u like it and can bump it in your car then keep going.
6. If you had one message to give to your fans, what would it be?
I’m coming. I’m not gone stop. And I’m coming with love ya know. They always say the nice guy finishes last but empathy is something that’s been left out of business practice for so long that’s it’s such a jewel of a character trait to possess. I’m not just tryna be a dope artist I’m tryna shift the culture.
7. What’s next for you? Any upcoming songs/projects
