Currently based in Bolzano, Northern Italy, Ed spent his teenage years playing guitar in several bands and taking part in a number of recording projects. While his ability as an instrumentalist kept him in high demand, what he really longed for was to be in creative control of a project, and when he had the necessary skills he set out to introduce his own songs to the world.
After a few unsuccessful attempts at starting traditional bands, Ed came up with the idea of using open sourcing, allowing him to control the direction of his new music while inviting collaborators in.
Vizdumb Music got a chance to ask Ed Golfo a few questions and here is what he had to say.
1.Can you please tell our readers your real name as well as your stage name?
My real name is Andrea Garofalo, Ed Golfo is my stage name
2.Where are you from and Where are you based?
I’m from Trento and I’m currently based in Bolzano, both are in Northern Italy
3.At What age did you start making music?
I recall the first melody I composed. I was a preschooler, it was a cheesy melody on a kid’s keyboard. Then at about 10 the first guitar arpeggio and I started writing more structured songs from about 14 years old with the band I previously played with (Italian alternative rock).
4.What genre would you consider yourself?
Well Ed golfo is a kind of open source project with no genres limits and this is summed up in this sentence:”love music with no boundaries”. As for now the only common factor is the keyword “upbeat”
5.Tell us about your latest track or Video ( what is it all about)–Please explain the concept or message.
Contentwise, the song concerns itself with how mistakes “can weigh people down” but ultimately the right path for each person will reveal itself.
It originated from 2 vocal melodies that spontaneously came to mind while driving for a boring job commute.
